QANTAS takes delivery of its first Airbus A380 superjumbo this week as it looks forward to building a fleet of fuel efficient aircraft to combat an environment of high fuel costs.
The airline confirmed its new flagship carrier will not have full internet access as initially promised, because of "technical issues" encountered by their connectivity provider OnAir, and not because of fears passengers would access porn.
"It has nothing to do with that issue," said a Qantas spokeswoman.
"No airline operating the A380 currently offers full internet service. However, a range of connectivity options will be available, including wired or wireless web-mail and web-chat as well as some cached internet content, such as qantas.com."
Although a full internet service is not scheduled until late 2009, the A380 will still offer USB ports in every seat and laptop power sockets will be provided for every passenger, said the spokeswomen.
The aircraft's inflight entertainment system will offer 100 movies, 500 television show episodes, music, 80 games, audio books and language tutorials.
