Avionul aparţine unei companii low-cost care decolase de la Glasgow. Aterizarea pe aeroportul din Canare a crescut la maximum adrenalina pasagerilor şi a pilotului.

O femeie de 83 de ani care se afla la bord a povestit că pista de aterizare era udă, iar roţile avionului au scos fum în momentul frânării. Dacă nu ar fi existat un gard de protecţie aeronava ar fi ajuns mai mult ca sigur în Oceanul Atlantic.

Air Europa has a fleet of more than 30 737-800s. The jet involved is a leased eight-year old example.

A spokeswoman says the 75 passengers, and an unspecified crew complement, were uninjured during the event, and claims the aircraft has not sustained damage. "It will go back to flying today," she says.

Meteorological data from the airport at the time shows visibility and weather conditions were good. Spanish airports operator AENA says Lanzarote Airport is returning to normal operations following the incident.

The incident occurred early this morning, October 31, 2008. No one was injured, and there were no immediate reports of significant damage to the aircraft.

The aircraft, operating as Flight UX196 (a charter for Thomas Cook), was arriving at Lanzarote after a flight from Glasgow, Scotland, with 74 passengers and six crew members on board. Several news reports quoted an Air Europa spokesperson who said that the incident was the result of a "destabilized approach." No further details were given, and there have been no official statements by Spanish aviation officials about the incident.

News photos on the Spanish website 20minutos.es and a video of the scene on BBC News show that the aircraft traveled beyond the end of the runway on which it had just landed, but came to a stop inside the airport perimeter fence. There was no emergency evacuation. Passengers left the aircraft via stairs and were transferred to the terminal by bus.

The incident caused the Lanzarote Airport to be closed for several hours, and several arriving aircraft were diverted to other airports in the Canary islands. According to news reports, the incident aircraft was towed away, and the airport has reopened.

Nu prea e potrivit titlul stirii...
Aeronava n-a aterizat de urgenta, ci doar a iesit putin de pe pista chiar in capatul ei, insa nu a atins gardul de protectie. Oricum a fost la limita, mai erau doar cativa metri pana sa ajunga pe plaja din Lanzarote, care e supranumita "St. Maarten-ul Europei", din cauza approach-ului similar, chiar peste plaja.

Sunt aeroporturi grele in Canare datorita vantului care sufla tot timpul si destul de puternic .......
