Welcome to the tenth anniversary International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 2011 that will be held in August 16 – 21, 2011 at the airfield of TEC Russia JSC in Zhukovsky, Moscow region.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is the organizer of MAKS 2011 in accordance with the RF Government Order of September 2, 2009, No 1275-r.
The AVIASALON Join Stock Company is assigned to organize the Salon and fulfill all associated works connected with its preparation.

The International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS deservedly takes a leading place among the major international aerospace exhibitions. The main aim of the event is demonstration of new scientific designs, high technologies and abilities of enormous Russian market in cooperation with foreign partners.

Salons MAKS are a place where authorities of Russia, members of almost all levels of the Government of the Russian Federation, official delegations of many countries, businessmen, leaders of aviation and space sector and specialists of aviation and space companies meet together.

It is not just a prestige event, it’s a real work aimed to promote products of aviation and space sector in the international market. Only at MAKS you can see trial designs of aircraft and military vehicles, air performances of the best aerobatic teams of the world and also take part in the rich business program of the Salon.

The event of such level has enormous importance in development and expansion of international cooperation.

....si nu esti tu singurul care ar mergeeeeeee..... dar e cam departe...ma consolez cu gindul ca voi merge la Zeltweg...e mai aproape de mine.....mi-am si planificat concediu pentru perioada respectiva.....

Russia's MAKS 2011 air show closed with an embarrassment for Sukhoi, when the pilot of its second prototype PAK-FA/T-50 was forced to abort a take-off run after two bursts of flame erupted from the fifth-generation fighter's starboard engine.

The incident happened in front of about 200,000 visitors, who had gathered at Ramenskoye air base near Moscow on 21 August to watch a flying display.



Also referred to as T-50-2, or Side 52, the aircraft was forced to stop from a speed of around 100km/h, with Sukhoi test pilot Sergei Bogdan using wheel brakes and also deploying a brake parachute.

It stopped well short of the aerodrome fence, thanks to the 5,000m (16,400ft) length of the runway.

Sukhoi said the aircraft had suffered a technical malfunction but no damage, and that its pilot had acted "in accordance with manuals".

The company later attributed the issue to a "malfunctioning fuel supply system" and to the NPO Saturn Item 117 engine's full-authority digital engine control system.

To further Sukhoi's embarrassment, immediately after the incident the show's organisers promised the public that the first PAK-FA prototype would fly instead. This failed to happen, with the aircraft believed to have been sent for maintenance shortly after performing in front of Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin on 17 August.
