Airliner net orders came in at 16 in August where 28 new orders were offset by 12 cancellations. August was in comparison a quiet month from the previous when high order activities occurred during the Farnborough Airshow.

Thai Airways International and the CIT Group ordered seven and four Airbus A330s respectively during the month. Porter Airlines and Smart Aviation both ordered Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft (four and two). The CIT Group also cancelled Airbus A319s and A320s with four of each.

Airbus totalled 12 new orders in August, with Boeing having 10 and Bombardier six.

Narrowbody orders totalled of 11 with 10 Boeing 737s and a single A321. Widebody aircraft orders came in for 11 A330s, while the turboprops orders were for six Dash 8s.

Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended August at 7,618, down 74 on the previous month.
